Soon our short-statured herd began to grow (just not in height). We brought on new gelded jacks,
moms and their foals. Our quiet, pristine pastures were quickly filled with braying and miniature play.
In early 2010 we decided to start a small breeding program with the goal of rearing exceptional,
well-proportioned donkeys for show, work or companionship. We spent most of the year traveling the
country and purchasing donkeys from breeders as well as the "Select" sales.
Our "small" breeding program now consists of an average of 70 donkeys. With the quality of the
donkeys we have accumulated and the experienced management we have in place we are setting out
to change the image of the miniature donkey in Florida as well as the Southeast.
Myer's Meadows - our miniature donkey farm - is the realization of our family's dream
We first brought donkeys into our
pastures back in 2005, when we
purchased a yearling standard that
grazed with cows. After the cows
left, we quickly realized the truth
behind the old phrase, "a lone
donkey is a lonely donkey." We
bought three miniature friends (two
mature jennets and a gelded jack
foal) and fell in love with them.
